bookmarks are gone
The new bookmark menu is useless and confusing. I don't want my bookmarks edited, manipulated or managed. How do I go back to the way it was? This new method stinks!

Hi shutterbug,
What do you mean by "the way it was?" Are you referring to having your bookmarks in the side bar?
Try hitting CTRL + B. This will display your bookmarks in the sidebar temporarily. If you want to permanently put your bookmarks in the sidebar, you should take a look at this article on customizing the toolbar. It will show you how you can add new toolbar buttons. There is a bookmark icon available that will open your bookmarks in the sidebar. It looks similar to the other bookmark icon, but it has as small bar on the left side.
Hopefully this helps!
I want the Organize Bookmarks back. I can't see a way to delete a bookmark if its in a folder... I also liked when I opened a new tab my previous locations were listed, whether a website I closed or a newly bookmarked site. What was Firefox thinking? At least with Safari I just have my blank page show me my recent activity.
PASmith - this sounds like a different question.
Organize Bookmarks was renamed to Show All Bookmarks, or you can press Ctrl+Shift+b.
If you previously had information displayed in a new tab, where by default it is blank, you probably had an add-on, such as an auto-dial extension. If you check your extensions, you might find that it was disabled during the upgrade and just needs to be updated.
orange Firefox button or classic Tools menu > Add-ons
Click Extensions on the left side, then scroll down. The disabled extensions are listed below all the enabled ones. Can you find/re-enable the relevant add-on?

What is auto-dial extension. I'm not sure I'm saying it in tech talk since I'm not techy. Thanks for the Bookmarks information that was helpful.
My questions which is different is, when I opened a new tab I had a list of recently closed tabs and recently bookmarked tabs showing in the newly opened tab. I used that every day since I use different locations within a website to copy, transfer or use a url within the website to refer to a member in a conversation on another page within the same site. If I'm using my blog and I'm typing and I want to go to my dashboard without moving out of my editing mode I open another tab and work independently there approving comments etc. BUT, now that the listing of the recently tabs and the photo icons arae gone in the newly opened tab, I'm doing a lot more work. I hope that I made it clearer. Thanks for your healp.
I just saw an add-on called Speed Dial. I think that's is more what I'm thinking not sure. We seniors struggle when major changes are made to your computing experience. Thanks for your help.
PASmith, I hope you were able to track down which add-on you were using. There are several different ones which present that information in different styles, and I haven't tried all of them, so it's hard for me to pinpoint the one that is disabled or missing.
@jscher2000 I had no add-ons except personas and yahoo tool bar. Other than that, nothing. I tried the FDV (?) speed dial and worked with it for 2 1/2 hours what a mess. I opened a pdf and when I tried to open a new tab it kept popping up. It wouldn't quit. I had to delete most all dialers to get it to stop. The add-on creators had no tutorials at all.
Thanks for your help. When I was on 3.6. Firefox it seemed like a default and we used it daily all day long. Such a shame.
