Firefox did not fully uninstall
It all began innocently enough, as these things do...
I am using a Dell Dimension 5150 with XP Pro and Service Pack 3.
When I finally (recently) decided to install Firefox, I wanted it to integrate with Win I.E. 8. I can't remember which add-on I installed, but it worked well except for one website. The password box automatically fills in with an unknown password that disappears with clicked on. Normally, in the past with I.E. 8, when I typed in the Username and my password, it overrode the defaulted one. It worked fine once in Firefox, but after that the defaulted password overrides mine and I cannot access the site correctly (it can be viewed, just no template downloads, posting or commenting on threads or previews of the threads can be seen).
So, I used CCleaner to thoroughly clear the History, Cache, Passwords,etc. out of Firefox. That didn't work. I've uninstalled Firefox from the Control Panel in Win XP Pro (but the Mozilla folder was still in Program Files and the Firefox Desktop Icon was still on the Desktop.
So, I uninstalled Firefox again, and then uninstalled I.E. 8, restarted the computer, and reinstalled I.E. 8, and still noticed that the Mozilla folder and Icon were still on/in the computer. I also disabled MS Silverlight in Firefox (I never used in I.E.)
So, how do I disassociate Firefox from I.E. 8 and how do I override the defaulted password?

First of all, let me thank you for all the time and effort in trying to solve this problems (actually two of them).
After spending several hours, doing several System Restores, uninstalling and reinstalling of Firefox and I.E. 8, I finally decided to spend $129 (later it became $199 for a year's software support coverage with Dell. We spent about 2 hours (with the help of the free 30 day trial of Revo Uninstaller Pro to thoroughly uninstall Firefox and I.E. 8 (along with CCleaner, Comodo's Firewall, and the 3 spyware blocking software I had installed on the computer.
The main problem was actually due to having Iomega's ClickFree software program installed as a system backup in case of the Blue Screen of Death. As an external harddrive, I can start Window from the USB port with the software. Now, I didn't think of that as causing a problem, due to having installed it with the working password and before installing Firefox. Also, I hadn't refreshed the software (by plugging it in and running it) for sometime. It does run in the background, in order to keep the changes as they are made, but as I said, I had refreshed (made an updated backup) for sometime.
As to the password, wellllll........ there is a saying about Retrograde Mercury (which rules communication and transportation) causing havoc with electronics and communications (letters or emails won't get sent or will be delayed or be sent to the wrong recipient, or misread). When I went to type in the password which ended in "ing" I had misread it to read "er." I can actually read quite well - usually - but not this time. DUH!!!!!
So the problems are fixed. I thank you again. Your advice did not go to waste. I did go the the links you provided and saved the pages for future reference.

Use these steps to remove saved (form) data from a drop down list:
- Click the (empty) input field on the web page to open the drop down list
- Highlight an entry in the drop down list
- Press the Delete key (on Mac: Shift+Delete) to remove it.
Pardon me, but what/where is the input field? If it is on the form itself, as soon I click on it to highlight (for copying and pasting) or to merely place my cursor, it becomes a blank box (no drop down menu/box).
With the input field I mean the input form on the web page where you enter the user name.
If Firefox has saved an entry then you usually get a drop down list that opens if you double click that field or start typing the first letters.
If Firefox fills or autocomplete such a filed then there is an entry saved, either in the password manager or as saved form data and in both cases you can highlight such an entry with the mouse or cursor down and press the Delete key to remove it, so Firefox won't (can't) use it anymore.
Then you can save a new name and Firefox should be using that instead.
This may also be needed if the user name has been saved with a wrong capitalization and the website is case sensitive.

Thank you for taking the time to try to solve this vexing problem.
The form in question does not have a drop down menu. As soon I try to highlight the pre-filled password or to retype the password, it disappears. The site in question in the login on http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/login.php.
I am attaching the image of what is on the form when I first load the page.
The user name (User Name) and password (********) that you see when you open that page are pre-filled place holders that are cleared once you click the field, so those are not filled by Firefox or stored on your computer.
Only what you type yourself will be send if you submit the form.
It is possible that some JavaScript clears the form after you've clicked the Log in button, but that shouldn't have any effect although it can confuse the Firefox password manager.
Apparently somehow the prefilled password stayed on even after I had typed in mine and is now firmly and deeply embedded so that I cannot use mine nor the new one the site sent. That's why I tried to uninstall and reinstall both I.E. 8 and Firefox 14. Neither did a clean uninstall... Now I have issues I didn't have before.
Did you try to clear the cookies?
You can try to create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
That avoids the problem with reset that tries to import the passwords and form data.

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.
