Previously when I wrote a word, for example BBC, in the address field, the BBC web site opened up immediately. Now it comes in the Google list so I have to click once more. How do I do to solve this?

in this case please try setting the keyword.url preference to http://www.google.com/search?btnI=I%27m+Feeling+Lucky&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=

hello reos, you can either install the searchreset addon to get back to the default behaviour or manually reset the keyword search setting: enter about:config into the firefox location bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up), search for the preference named keyword.url and right-click & reset its value.

Thanks for the answer.

However the problem remain.

I did install the "searchreset addon", with no result. (The only thing that changes is the start page)

I then vent to the about:config list, and right clicked on "keyword.url", but the "reset" option is not clickable.

To clarify the problem: Previously when I entered, for ex the letters bbc, in the FF address field, the BBC web page opened directly. Now it shows only up as one of many options in the google search list, and thus I have to click one more time to get to the web site.

I hope you don't mind if I ask: What have all this Doodles to do with the problem I describe?

please don't click the link but enter it as value of the keyword.url preference. it will trigger an "i'm feeling lucky"-search on google and therefore bring you directly to the bbc page & not to the search results for bbc in your example...

Yea .... but by doing that it feels like I enter all this bunch of various Doodles pages in to my computer ...... ;) Is your suggestion the only option?

I thought this search function was a normal part of the FF browser, as it is in Chrome.

yes, that's the only option & it works as you'd like without any sideeffects - therefore i don't quite understand your hesitations - just try it ;-)

Thanks for taking you time to answer.

But ... What about all this "Doodles"? I would prefer not to have anything to do with them ;)

I just want the search function, (using the "address field"), to link me directly to the page I search .......

What have the Doodles to do with this ?

best wishes R

the doodles have nothing to do with it - they just appear when you hit the "I'm feeling lucky" button on google.com without having entered any search term. since the search function in the address bar is only triggered when you have entered a word/string etc. it doesn't apply here...

OK

Thanks

I did as you said ... It function well ...

But I reckon that the Doodles are lurking somewhere out there in the cyberspace, if not on my hard disc ....... ;)

Best wishes R
