I want to add a new search engine to the menu in my toolbar. I had done that previously, but an unrelated problem caused me to reset Firefox. When I attempted to install any additional search engine from within Firefox, (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/aol-search/?src=search) and (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/scholar-search/), I got the following error message: "Sorry, you need a Mozilla-based browser (such as Firefox) to install a search plugin" for both. Since I was using Firefox, something is obviously wrong.

I had this problem too. I resolved it by temporarily disabling DoNotTrackMe; maybe this will work for you too.
