For several weeks, every time I use Firefox, the History tab's recently visited sites listed below the Recently Closed Windows selection are always the same set. When I look at the history in the Show All History window, the history is current. How do I clear the list of recent history websites on the history tab and reset it so it will be current every time I use Firefox?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox profile folder.

I tried Firefox in Safe mode and was unsuccessful. So I took advice from one of the sources and rebuilt the places.sqlite database files after deleting them. Problem solved! Thank you for your help.
