The instructions guide me to a site called [Interoperability Bridges].

There is no mention of Windows 8.1 there.

Also the instruction are from an old version of Firefox not the latest... 32.

As far as I know, that's the only plugin Microsoft offers for Firefox. Could you give it a try?

Also note installation steps 7-10 because the plugin installer uses an older part of the Firefox program folder.
