Browser will not default to mymsn.com home page.
It doesn't matter whether I move the address to the home page icon or do it under options. The Google search page always opens and not the designated home page. Thank you.

You're the man!!! SystemCare settings not showing MSN as homepage. I had recently downloaded the SystemCare 8 beta and that's where the problem was.
Thank you so much for suggesting that. So many different possibilities to solve issues -- the one thing becomes easy to overlook.

Download the Mozilla Search Reset {web link} This add-on is very simple: on installation, it backs up and then resets your search preferences and home page to their default values, and then uninstalls itself. This affects the search bar, URL bar searches, and the home page.
It could be the work of one of your add-ons, or even add / mal-ware. Look thru your add-ons list and make sure you know what each one is and what it does. Also, check the programs that are on your computer
Windows: Start > Control Panel > Uninstall Programs. Mac: Open the "Applications" folder. Linux: Check your user manual.
Go thru the list. If you find something that you don't know what it is, use a web search.
Do you mean the page that open when you start Firefox or the page that opens when you click the Home toolbar button?
Does at least the Home button work?
It may be a problem with MSN. They are doing previews of a "new look". However, I have tried reset, HitMan Pro (highly rated malware finder), Advanced SystemCare 8 and all other cleaning methods. The Home icon works. When I open Firefox browser I continue to get the Firefox start page with the Google search. When I use either www.msn.com or www.mymsn.com the browser still defaults to the Google search page when opening. Thank you.
Google has programs that change your settings, just like several others.
Firefox browser has always defaulted to MSN. No matter what I do, browser is defaulting to the Firefox Google search page.
I forgot to add when browser defaults to Firefox start Google Search page clicking on the Home icon defaults to the same Google search page.
Thank you.
So... let's break it down:
(1) Does Firefox let you change the home page setting in the Options dialog using any of the usual methods?
(2) If Firefox lets you change the setting and you use either of these, does it work?
- Click the Home button on the toolbar (or press Alt+Home on the keyboard)
- Open a new window (Ctrl+n)
(3) If that works, if you double-click your Firefox shortcut, does it launch the correct home page, or still the built-in home page?
(4) If all that works, and you exit out of Firefox and start it up again, what home page loads? If it changed back, check for these problems:
- user.js setting file overriding your settings: How to fix preferences that won't save
- Advanced SystemCare settings protection feature rolling back your change
- other external utility/security software with a home page or browser protection feature rolling back your change
