I have recently switched from Nightly to a regular version of Firefox, only to find that my most used shortcut, Ctrl+Shift+I (opening developer's toolbox) doesn't work.

Please, how can I fix it? It's not a shortcut conflict, as the shortcut works well in other browsers.

Cheers, Kamil

Did you use a separate profile for that Nightly or are you still using that same profile?

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problem.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.

I have deleted the previous Nightly profile completely before I installed the usual Firefox version to have a "clean start".

Creating new profile didn't fix the problem unfortunately, the shortcut still doesn't work.

Are you sure that one of your currently installed extensions isn't creating a conflict with that keyboard command. Try the Firefox SafeMode to see it it works with your extensions all disabled. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode

Unfortunately not, running Firefox in safe mode, Ctrl+Shift+I still won't work. I tried turning off every single application that wasn't Firefox and was running in background and it also didn't help (it's 100% not a shortcut conflict).

Do other Web Developer shortcuts work?

  • Firefox/Tools > Web Developer

Yes, they all work.

After looking it up in the Tools menu I just noticed that the shortcut has changed, for some reason, from Ctrl+Shift+I to Ctrl+Shift+n. So, there's that, I think I can get used to it.

But if it's possible to change this shortcut back to Ctrl+Shift+I, to be the same as in other browsers (convenience), I'd be really happy to know how.

What Firefox locale do you use?

I've seen reports in the past that some locales define a wrong command key for menu items. You would have to install the en-US version in that case and the language pack and edit the related file in the language pack to fix this.

I'm using the Polish version.

The shortcut was Ctrl+Shift+I earlier however, before the Australis release.

Is it possible to somehow re-bind the keyboard shortcut? If not, thanks for your help, it's greatly appreciated, I'll just get used to Ctrl+Shift+n :D.
