Why is Firefox so slow - even on decent hardware (i7, lots of RAM, fast SSD, only 2 extensions)?

I mean, it is really slow looking up hostnames when opening a page (no dns caching)? Compared to google-chrome it is about 5 times slower. I would really like to use firefox - but the missing speed makes it currently unusable for me. Wondering if firefox-developers use firefox themselfes...

Do you want to post your Firefox configuration details? Here's how:

  1. Use ONE of these methods to open the Firefox Troubleshooting Information page:
    • Click the menu button New Fx Menu, click on help Help-29 and select Troubleshooting Information.
    • Type about:support into the Firefox address bar and press the enter key.
  2. At the top of the Troubleshooting Information page that comes up, you should see a button that says "Copy text to clipboard". Click it.

  3. Now, come back to your forum post (https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1034410), right-click in the reply box and select Paste from the context menu (or else click inside the reply box and press the Ctrl+V keys) to paste all the information you copied into the forum post.

Usually no personal information is contained in the list, but you can skim down and check. (Also, some information probably is not relevant to your question, such as printer settings.)
