Firexfox 34.0.5 - Windows 8.1

Hi,

Recently, FF has been freezing up on me with increasing frequency. To solve this, I tried the 'Troubleshooting:Reset Firefox' solution. While running, the Reset option itself failed and froze the computer requiring a forced restart. On restarting PC and FF then FF said 'your FF profile cannot be loaded..'. Followed guidance elsewhere here to delete profile.ini and managed to regain access to FF. On starting FF now everything blank - no bookmarks, no add-ons. Logged into Sync account hoping this would recover my bookmarks and add-ons - it didn't. Although I've been using Sync for sometime for some reason my old bookmarks and add-ons weren't recovered. So, followed guidance elsewhere here and managed to recover bookmarks from an old backup on my PC from the old profile but unable to recover add-ons.

My questions are..

1) Why doesn't Sync allow me to recover old bookmarks and add-ons even though these have been synced, and how do I check that Sync is working correctly?

2) How, given that Sync hasn't been working, do I recover my add-ons and extensions?

I've been using FF successfully for a long time. However, in the recent past it seems to have become increasingly unstable and prone to freezing. I suspect some of these problems may be due to Adobe Flash but I am using the latest Flash version and have checked the installation.

Look on your desktop. Is there a folder called Old Firefox?

If there is, your information is stored there. If not, then the old profile may still be in your user folder.
