Difference between All mails & Inbox?

more options

Hi, I am mew to THunderbird & even Linux OS. I have configured my gmail account in Thunderbird but most emails were downloded in All mails. Later, when set the filter for synchronization.............the same messages were copied to Inbox? Now I do not want two inboxes with two different names & also if I do not want to have All Mails folder, how to delete it?

Chosen solution

The 'All Mail' folder in gmail is where gmail keeps all of its emails and labels are applied to show emails in various folders including the Inbox.

So the 'All Mail' folder is really an archive folder in gmail. If you subscribe to see 'All Mail' folder then it doubles the size of your Profile. If you delete emails from the 'All Mail' folder you are likely to delete them from all folders.

You can unsubscribe from showing the 'All Mail' folder. Here is a link to info on doing this.

scroll down to the section 'All Mail'

Note there are a couple of menu differences for Linux.
