Chosen solution

Do you mean your Firefox icon has disappeared from the desktop or Taskbar or wherever it normally is?

In that case, could you first confirm that Firefox is still installed by doing this:

In the search box on the Windows Start menu type or paste the following and press Enter:

firefox.exe

That should start Firefox up and display your home page (or previous session windows and tabs, if you selected that instead).

Does that work or do you get an error message?

Which symbol do you mean? Can you post a screenshot of the area the symbol normally appears?
