When I start typing part of an url in the address bar, I get as always some suggestions. When clicking on the right one, it does not open. Instead it searches google for the partial string I just typed. What do I need to do?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox profile folder.
