Google Play Music won't play

I've recently tried to switch over from Chrome to Firefox, but one thing that is preventing me from completing the switch is that Google Play Music will not play on Firefox 39.

I'm currently running Windows 10, but I've tested this with 8.1 as well. When trying to load music from a radio station, or playlist, it just times out and says Can't Reach Google Play.

This works fine in Chrome and IE 10, 11. What is even stranger, is I can play music from my library on Google Play Music which is also streamed since I have nothing downloaded.

I've tried every fix I could find across the Internet with no success. This is my last resort before I have to switch back to Chrome.

Please help me keep the freedom and look of Firefox!

Thanks for the answer, but unfortunately, this doesn't help me.

I'm running the most recent version of both, and even though I can play music and video from other sources, Google Play Music just fails to connect to play the streaming music.

Thanks, but I've been through all of that. My plugins are working, up to date, and not conflicting.

Did you check the Web Console (Firefox/Tools > Web Developer) for errors?

Use Ctrl+F5 or Ctrl+Shift+R to reload the page and bypass the cache to generate a fresh log.

I called Google Play support. They claim an update to Play Music caused FF to stop working because FF has a security hole. Of course Google Chrome works fine. They also stated the onus is on FF Dev to fix the problem.

Same in 40b3... I also noticed that DRM-free music plays well (e.g. your uploaded and bought songs).

This is upsetting to hear, since it seems that I am not the only one having this issue. I guess until Firefox and Google can play nice, I'll have to stick with Google Chrome.

Thanks for your responses everyone.

Seems like it's working again. I don't know whether it's related to the new Flash version (new versions were coming every day because of the discovery of major vulnerabilities; Firefox even disabled Flash entirely).

Mine still does not work. Did you do anything different? I have checked that my Flash is updated and still no dice.

I can play music that I've uploaded, I just can't play music from Google's servers, including radio stations.

I have the Flash version 18.0.0.209, Firefox is 40.0 (beta 3 probably). Windows 8.1 64-bit, Windows Media Feature Pack installed.

Btw, Firefox was saying I had the latest Flash for v203, but I checked Adobe's website and there was a newer one (v209). So I recommend you to go to https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ and do the same.

Thanks for the details. I downloaded Firefox 40.0 (I was on 39, non-beta) and the newest flash player, which I did already have, and it still doesn't work for me. I guess it must be something on my end after all.

I also enabled the auto-update of Adobe Primetime (it was on "default" but I set it to "enabled") and Cisco Systems' OpenH264 plugins. Don't know if these had to do anything with the Google Play problem, but I thought it might help (won't make things worse anyways I guess).
