Since installing Windows 10 today, Word and Excel no longer open attachments or any Word and Excel files on my computer. I fixed this by adding my folders that contain such files to "Trusted Locations" in File/Options/Trust Center/Trust Center Settings/Trusted Locations. So the problem is fixed for files on my computer. But although I also added the location of my Thunderbird profile, I continue to get the error. In what folder are the Thunderbird attachments held? Also, a workaround might be if I had a Thunderbird "Trusted Publisher" certificate.

Fixed by going to the Trust Center Settings (as above) and removing the checks from all three boxes in "Protected View"
