I keep getting an email--not SPAM-- sent over 700+ times. How do I make this stop? EAch time it is the same date and time, not a new message.

Every time my email downloads new messages I keep getting a repeat of an email sent at 3:40pm Sept 18. The same message....over and over and over....the last count was over 700 times since Sept 18. I've removed the original email from the remote access (webmail), and tried to submit it as SPAM or junk mail (its not SPAM). That hasn't stopped it. I've put Thunderbird into Safe Mode but it keeps coming over. Our email / internet provider says its not their problem. I'm stumped! Feels like Ground Hog Day every 5 minutes as that message keeps coming over. Any way to stop this? RBTA-Traveler

You get one new every time you start. Does that repeat itself and you end up with several after a while? If you keep it and dont delete it, does it then download a new copy next time you start? Is it a POP3 or IMAP account?

Go offline, delete, empty trash, and compact. Then thru webmail, delete, empty trash, compact inbox and trash. If you go online does it still download

I've have tried the remote access, delete, etc. It does not appear on the webmail/remote access anymore (just once), but still on my regular Inbox...every 5 minutes. I've compacted the files; I've deleted over 500 yesterday and then emptied the trash....still coming in. It is a POP3 account.

Make a backup at least of that folder.

Repair folder. (right-click on folder / properties / general information )

The problem still continues. I had an IT man work on it, deleting, making back ups, etc. but the same email comes over with every new email. It appears to be within the communication line carrying in new messages. I have put the SPAM block on this message/sender but that is not helping. Anyone else have an answer?

  • delete that mail from your pop3-server using webmail.
  • open Tbird in offline-mode ( In run: Thunderbird -offline )
  • under tools "clear resent history" ( Ctrl+Shift+Del) delete cache
  • repair your inbox. A good advice is to keep inbox very small or empty.
  • go online
