Recently Firefox has been crashing only on certain websites, such as Tomshardware and PCgamer. The page loads, and Firefox promptly crashes with a report to send. So, I start Firefox in safe mode, and the pages load just fine. So I remove the addons. Pages still cause me to crash. I refresh Firefox, still crash. I completely uninstall Firefox, removing everything from the program-files, appdata and the registry and restart. I then redownload Firefox, install, and go to the websites with out installing any addons, and it still crashes. I then set all plugins to Ask to activate, and then never activate, both times don't solve the issue. My computer is up to date, all drivers installed, running Windows 10 64 bit, 16 gigs of ram, 2 GTX 970s' and an i5 OC'ed to 4.2, so hardware isn't an issue. This problem has only been occurring since the recent update to 42, no other previous versions of Firefox has ever had the issue. I really don't want to have to use another browser, but with some of the sites I want to go on, its getting really annoying.

hello, could you go to the firefox menu ≡ > help ? > troubleshooting information, copy the contents of that page and paste them here into a reply on the forum? this might give us a clue what is going on...

Do those pages have flash on them? Have you had trouble with flash?

This is not a cure, but should let the web page load without crashing.

Flash block {web link} Never be annoyed by a Flash animation again! Blocks Flash so it won't get in your way, but if you want to see it, just click on it

Some of your crash reports weren’t sent to the Mozilla Servers.

In the address bar, type about:crashes<enter>. Note: If any reports do not have BP in front of the numbers/letters, click it and select Submit.

The crash report is several pages of data. We need the report numbers to see the whole report.

Using your mouse, mark the most resent 7 - 10 crash reports, and copy them. Now go to the reply box below and paste them in.

thank you. so as this looks like an issue with hardware acceleration, but you're already using an up-to-date graphics driver, the only thing that i can recommend here is to disable hardware acceleration in the firefox menu ≡ > options > advanced > general (that setting will take a restart of the browser to take effect).

Thanks, that worked! What does hardware acceleration do exactly? Would I even notice any difference in browsing?

if it worked correctly, hardware acceleration would use the computational power of your graphics card instead of your cpu to render certain elements of a page, which can speed up things...
