Why would refreshing Firefox cause it to no longer work? That's what happened to me after it was recommended I do so.

I got a message telling me that Firefox seemed slow and it was suggested that I do a refresh. After I did the refresh I cannot seem to do anything in Firefox at all, as now it is excruciatingly slow, to the point of not being useful at all. It really wasn't that slow before, so I'm very upset about this.
