I've been browsing a bit today with Firefox and closed it just normally. Now after i re-opened it, i was a bit in shock that my whole Bookmarks, History, saved Passwords, Addons etc. are ALL completly lost. I looked inside the Profile folder and was again shocked that everything was gone. I had used Sync but now my Problem is, that i don't remember the password to Sync and also don't have access to the email registered anymore. Is there a way you could probably help me recover the Sync account password?

Do you have an "Old Firefox Data" folder on the desktop in case you used the Refresh feature?

When you use the Firefox Refresh feature then a new profile is created and some personal data (bookmarks and history, form data, tabs) is automatically imported. The current profile folder will be moved to an "Old Firefox Data" folder on the desktop. Installed extensions and other customizations (toolbars, prefs) that you have made are lost and need to be redone.

It is possible to recover data from the "Old Firefox Data" folder on the desktop, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.

No I haven't done any refresh. It's just totally weird, my profile data suddenly vanished into thin air, not even Recuva (file recovery software) was able to find anything, in case the folder got deleted.

Did you check if there are multiple profiles present in the default location?

You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:

Go up one level to the '\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\" folder.

Location used for the main profile in "AppData\Roaming".

  • C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\

These can't get your data back, but will help in the future.

These add-ons can be a great help by backing up and restoring Firefox

FEBE (Firefox Environment Backup Extension) {web link} FEBE allows you to quickly and easily backup your Firefox extensions, history, passwords, and more. In fact, it goes beyond just backing up -- It will actually rebuild your saved files individually into installable .xpi files. It will also make backups of files that you choose.

Thank you for the Addon suggestions and thanks everyone for the help. It's just sad that suddenly everything vanished, especially all my bookmarks, they were very important for me. Guess I'll just have to accept the stuff is lost
