By mistake, I refreshed Firefox. How can I restore the old settings from the Old Firfox Data folder?

Firefox version 47.0; Mac Pro OS X 10.6.8 I had no problems for years, and thought that "Refresh" was due. I did not appreciate that it would remove all the bookmarks and add-ins. Please help. Thank you.

If you use the Time Machine then it might be easier to restore file(s) from that backup.

You need the profiles.ini file and the Firefox profile folder with the random name that is listed in the profiles.ini file.

You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:

I'm not sure about the profile location in Mac OS X 10.6

  • ~/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/<profile>/
  • ~/Library/Mozilla/Firefox/Profiles/<profile>/
