Today I clicked on a unknown exe file which I think gave me a virus. Since then I have done 3 virus scans on 2 different companies and they found nothing. I attempt to start firefox in safemode, but windows tries to find a solution and it exits out. The only way I am viewing this is because on the McAfee virus scan I can click a link to go into the browser without windows interfering. I have recently reinstalled Adobe. I have Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Flash Reader. If I need anything else to download please let me know. - Mike.

PS: The only way I can attempt to start it is by spamming the icon around 10 times :/

NEVER access an exe unless you know what it does / is for. That is what virus writers count on. Also, only download exe files from trusted sites that do their own scans of uploads.

You may have ad / mal-ware. Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

Run most or all of the listed malware scanners. Each works differently. If one program misses something, another may pick it up.
