automatically forward emails
Does Thunderbird automatically forward incoming emails to another email address when a rule is created to do so and does it also do this whilst 'offline' too?
Chosen solution
If Thunderbird is in 'offline' mode, then TB is not connected to internet and so will not download nor send.
Whilst is it is possible to download emails and then forward them to any email address, there is no point downloading emails to forward them to yourself at another email address just to download it again.
If you are going away and use pop or imap mail accounts, all the emails are still on the server, so you can still access them via webmail using a browser. If using pop mail accounts, the server may only have new messages on server if you have not selected to keep copies on server.
To forward to another email address: Set this up in Message filters. To forward all messages: 'Match all messages'
To forward only messages that are in your address books, so no junk/spam etc are forwarded. 'Match any of the following' 'From' and 'is in my address book' select address book click on small + sign to enter another line if you have more than one address book you need to use. Perform these actions: 'Forward message to' and enter email address.
Note: If you are away from the computer: Computer must be on and connected to internet. Thunderbird must be running and using online mode. Computer must not switch off or go into sleep mode.
If you are away from the computer then it is not exactly very secure as anyone may have access to the computer and therefore access to see your emails and passwords etc.
