When composing, my preferred font says "not installed" - how do I install a font?
I have been using Arial Rounded MT Bold for my outgoing emails for several years. Now, it has started to show up as "Arial Rounded MT Bold - Not Installed". When I click on the drop-down arrow to select a font, it isn't there. How do I reinstall it? Where did it go?? This started with the last Thunderbird update.

I like using "Arial Rounded MT Bold" also.
I'm assuming you are using Windows. The font file on your computer may have become corrupted. Using Windows Explorer, go to: C:\Windows\Fonts\
Look for the font and double-click it to preview it. You should see a window like my screenshot below.
If it is not working properly, then delete it from C:\Windows\Fonts\, and install it from a known good source. I just uploaded the font to my website, so you can download it here.
Save the file to your computer, then double-click it to open it. It will show like my screenshot. Then click on the "Install" button.
You will probably have to reboot the computer to get the change to "take".
Hi Bruce, Thanks for the reply. I looked, and the font was in C:\windows\fonts.... I deleted it, downloaded your copy and reinstalled it. Still shows up as "Not installed" in Thunderbird.. (and it is back in the \fonts folder). Maybe I should try deleting the font, rebooting the computer, and then reinstall the font?? Or, maybe Thunderbird needs to be reinstalled??
TT
With more research, I found out what is going on. It is a bug in Thunderbird that occasionally shows up in various versions, but gets fixed fairly quickly. It is a problem with Thunderbird not correctly reading the name of a font, when the font name contains spaces.
