I had a pop-up "critical patch" message this morning using the FF logo and everything. I stopped the install when I saw it was a weird name in the website line . Was this legit ? I removed it already .

No, this was a scam. Well done on spotting and stopping it, but I recommend you make sure you run a full anti-malware scan.
