How can I make a desktop shortcut to _a_ page?

I really need desktop shortcuts to several pages (in fact online apps). I've already read the official instructions but they don't work as expected: running one shortcut opens my previous session with all of its tabs (100+). Needless to say, I'd like 10 shortcuts each for one page only, preferably each in a separate window. Is it doable?

I solved it by using Chrome. It has a menu entry that does just this: creates a desktop shortcut with the icon of the specific page. It works as expected and it even opens the link in a window without any elements at all - just the page/app, as if it wouldn't be a web page ;)
