Why does Firefox 57.0 show no window?

Following a recent Windows 10 update, I've caught Firefox also wanting to upgrade itself to the new 57.0 version. I've had to prevent this from happening due to a serious UI error. Upon starting the process, nothing appears onscreen - there's a tab in the taskbar, and rolling over the tab shows a thumbnail of a blank window, but no actual visible window that I can interact with... although the mouse can click on it, but that's no good when I can see what I'm clicking! In order to use Firefox at all now, I've had to uninstall and reinstall the older 56.0.2 version, as that at least works properly.

So is it Firefox 57.0 that's broken, or is there something funny going on with my system? As remarked earlier, I'm running Windows 10

I would say something funny going on. It is possible since this is a mass roll out that things are getting through that should not. In other words someone is using perfect timing.

Have a look  : Please use more than 1 scanner as each uses diff tech : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-caused-malware Save your Report and google each before deleting anything as do not want to delete something you need, If need help : https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/9573-im-infected-what-do-i-do-now/ Post in only 1 forum, then wait.

Best Practice When Unstall: This the best way to uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files(x86) Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved.

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 57.0 with a Full Version Installer https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ This installer is also a updater. It may find your profile and suggest a update or a refresh or install.

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

I did a scan with Spybot and Anti-Malware programs, but that didn't solve my issue! I just followed your instructions to Uninstall Firefox 56.0.2, clean the disk and restart the system in order to attempt the leap to Firefox 57.0

Same problem. Firefox 57.0 appears on the taskbar, but no visible window ever appears onscreen. Seems to me that your new version is load of rubbish, full of fatal bugs and needs a serious fix before you go pushing it out to us unsuspecting public!

Until we get a version that works, I'm sticking with Firefox 56.0.2
