I have a problem with down loading "video download helper add on. on firefox. After I download it and want to download and copy a youtube video I am blocked from doing so and a notice pops up "Companion application required⊗ This operation requires an external application to be completed.". So when I click on to download the companion I also download a malware on to my computer that takes over my browser search. To remove this malware I have to go and delete Firefox from my computer. Then again I go in and re-download firefox on to my computer. The reason that I downloaded firefox on to my computer was for the "video download helper" so that I can copy youtube videos on to my computer and to download it onto a thumb drive. Since a few weeks ago I have been unable to download and copy the youtube videos with this crap popping up and blocking me from downloading the videos that I wanted to download.

Please be advised that I do not go to any outside sites to download this crap : "Companion application required⊗ This operation requires an external application to be completed." and click on the button on the pop up notice I download malware onto my computer. Why is Mozilla forcing me to download malware with you new and improved Firefox browser?

What is going on?

You need to inform who ever, go to the Developers page and there should be a Report Abuse link.

Mozilla has nothing to do with Developers addons other than approve them for use foe Firefox and provide then with a page for distribution. They do their own support.

If you downloaded something and a popup happens it is usuelly never to do with Firefox.

Please use more than 1 scanner as each uses diff tech : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-caused-malware Save your Report and google each before deleting anything as do not want to delete something you need, If need help : https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/9573-im-infected-what-do-i-do-now/ Post in only 1 forum, then wait.
