Thunderbird - high CPU usage and freezing at version 52.6.0

Dear all,

I have experienced a high CPU usage (and also software freezing) using Thunderbird since the update to version 52.6.0, before the update - with the earlier version - there wasn't any problem.

Thank you for help.

Please start *Windows'* safe mode with networking enabled - win7 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17419/windows-7-advanced-startup-options-safe-mode#start-computer-safe-mode=windows-7

Still In Windows safe mode, start thunderbird in safe mode - https://support.mozilla.org/kb/safe-mode-thunderbird

Does problem go away? Please post to let us know results.

Unfortunately it doesn't... I experience some freezing under Safe Mode as well, the CPU load is lower, but compared to idle mode, it reaches 50-60% immediately when Thunderbird freezes for a while.

Using TB 52.8.0 @ macOS 10.13.4 a similar problem still occurs. This reminds me of the "How to stop Thunderbird hammering your CPU" blog post you (Wayne) responded to. Should we try what's suggested there?
