I can't start Thunderbird, not even in safe mode.
When I try to start it, it is listed in the Task Manager among the background processes.
Sometimes it will start after several minutes, though lately it doesn't even do that.
I found an old thread in this forum that proposed deleting the parent.lock file. I tried that, but it appears to have had no effect.
This is 32-bit Thunderbird running on Windows 10.

Hello.
Does the thunderbird.exe listed in the Task Manager among the background processes close or does it remain open, if so try closing it with the task manager.

Turned out to be a problem not related to Thunderbird; once that problem was resolved, Thunderbird has worked fine.

Could you help us understand what that non-Thunderbird problem was?
