Manually: How to quickly remove all the header and the table. Try either of these ways.

Method 1: click anywhere in the table part to get focus.

  • 'Format' > 'Table' > 'Delete' > 'Table'.

Method 2: The forwarded email will start with:

Forwarded Message --------
  • Place the cursor immediately at the end of this line, after the last ------ bit.
  • Left click, hold down and highlight all the content and go below the table up to the start of, but not including the actual email section.
  • Then press 'Delete' key.

It removes the whole lot in one go.

Using addon: Install the Change quote and reply format add-on and select 'Extended reply header' in the add-on's Options, or make a 'Customized reply header' download link is at the bottom of the webpage.

You could also right-click a received message, Edit As New Message, to have the original sender removed from the header shown in the message body. But this way, like any other method, does not remove the original sender from the message source, which is easily viewed (Ctrl+U). To modify the source would require additional alteration such as provided with the Header Tools Lite add-on.

Thank you very much, Toad-Hall and sfhowes, for your rapid answers. The add-on Change quote and reply format works only for answering messages but not for forwarding them - but maybe I didn't get the correct way to use it also for this. But with the idea of looking for an add-on to solve the problem I found the add-on SmartTemplate4, that works very fine, also with the possibility of distinguishing between answering or forwarding emails. Thank you both for your help!
