I simply want to make my custom background colors for messages I compose -permanent. I don't want to keep changing the hex color each time I draft a message. I did notice that the custom background colors are not also available in "options". Why aren't the custom colors that you choose in composing a new message set there?

Chosen solution

The background colour in Options is defined by the preference msgcompose.background_color in Tools/Options/Advanced/General/Config. editor. If you right-click, Modify, you can enter a custom colour such as #ffcc66.

Thanks very much "sfhowes' - I appreciate it. Your tip lead me to fix the active link color as well; but I found it under ".browser".
