For ages I have had TB delete emails after download. Now I need to keep them on the server. Using pop.googlemail.com set "leave messages on server". With or without "until I delete them", they are always deleted. I'm obviously missing something - How do I make them stay on serve until I physically delete them?

Thanks anybody. [ Screenshot of settings attached ]

Chosen solution

Gmail's help section: My emails are deleted from Gmail

If the emails you read in your other email client are getting deleted from Gmail, check your POP settings.

1. Visit the Forwarding and POP/IMAP settings page. 2. In the "POP Download" section, make sure "Archive Gmail's copy" or "Delete Gmail's copy" aren't selected. 3. At the bottom of the page, click Save changes.

Does that apply to your setup?

Spot on! Despite the TB settings it is necessary in Gmail settings -> Forwarding and POP/IMAP to ensure "Archive Gmail's copy" or "Delete Gmail's copy" are OFF - eg "mark Gmail copy as read".

Many thanks for a quick and accurate answer.
