I have just lost a whole folder of bookmarks in my Firefox. I must have clicked somewhere wrongly. I have gone to your help pages and to restore bookmarks and it created a folder which I have tried put in below, but I cannot do it. The file on my desktop says Bookmarks and gives today's date. All my bookmarks are there if I use internet explorer as my browser but I want to keep using Firefox. Please can you help me. I am old, not computer savvy and all stressed. Thank you, Anthony

Chosen solution

Hi Anthony, it sounds like you created a new backup file instead of restoring an old one, but first, before trying again:

If you haven't exited out of Firefox or made other bookmark changes, is the "Undo" command available? That would be in the Library window (Ctrl+shift+b) on the Organize menu.

If that doesn't work, you can try using the Restore menu with one of Firefox's automatic bookmark backups. This will roll back your bookmarks, so if you have added new ones and you want a record of those, create an Export (not Backup) file before restoring.

Dear jscher2000 Thank you so much for your time. What you suggested to correct is is exactly what I did. I was thinking why it ddn't work when I said restore and picked today's date. Obviously I should have picked the previous date which I did and it all worked.

You must have sent me a telepathic message. I am so grateful nevertheless for your reply. You were so quick after I posted my question. I hope you will accept my thanks and forgive me for troubling you.
