Thunderbird Sent emails appearing on Yahoo mail server on POP account
I have an email account on Yahoo and it is setup on Thunderbird on my laptop.
I have noticed that recently the sent emails on Thunderbird have appeared in the Sent folder on Yahoo Mail which it hasn't done before, that I am aware of and I thought syncing of POP mail wasn't possible.
Any ideas?

Yahoo are putting it in the 'Sent' folder on the server. They know you sent the email because you used their smtp server. This has nothing to do with Thunderbird. Thunderbird POP accounts cannot access any folder on server to put emails on server because pop account folders do not synchronise with server - as you mentioned in question. They are doing it because they understand that people using POP will not have a copy on the server if on occasion they use webmail. Sorry, but there's nothing you can do about Yahoo decisions.

Thanks for your reply.
What annoys me most about the change made by Yahoo was that didn't tell anyone so suddenly my email being sent by Thunderbird is appearing on the Yahoo server in the sent folder and you start to think if it is a problem with Thunderbird.
At least I now know what has caused the issue and can work around it to prevent my local sent emails being put onto the yahoo server.
DWA058, I too am annoyed at this recent Yahoo change. What is going to be your workaround if you don't mind me asking? I would love to NOT store sent emails on the yahoo servers.
Thanks!

My simple workaround is to stop using my Yahoo email addresses.
I have started using other email addresses and changed the Yahoo email to the new email addresses I am using and will eventually delete my Yahoo accounts when they are not receiving mail.
If Yahoo stop this practice of copying sent emails then I would start using them again but at the moment it is easier to stop using them.
Ahhhh...that makes perfect sense. Something I have 'threatened' to do many times. I really think I will follow through this time; Yahoo is just so behind the times and technology curve it is ridiculous. Thanks for replying!
