Some time ago Google Chrome added a new flag which allows to hide the https:// and subdomains called: Omnibox UI Reveal Steady-State URL Path, Query, and Ref On Hover


Ej: Flag not enabled: https://www.example.com/... Flag Enabled: example.com

When you hover over the address bar the full domain is shown

Mozilla is planning to add an option like that to firefox?
