Frequent crashes. I've run Onyx. Reset extensions. Reinstalled firefox. I've been using google maps frequently, so I switched to safari and that crashed too. Trying chrome now -- no problem yet. I'm wondering if GPU is at fault. I've ramped up cooling based on GPU. Still crashing. Tried holding down D and option D to test ram but I just get a command line on a non-responsive screen.

Several of the bug reports think this may be caused by an Apple update.

I called for more help.

Thank you so much for your help. I only posted one crash because before I got to read your instructions I completely uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled.

Is this sufficient or if more crashes occur, would more reports help?

There was just a recent update from Apple.

Your efforts are very much appreciated.

Yes. Post any new crash report numbers. While they may be the same as the above, they could also be different.

Here are more. Thanks

What were you doing at the time? surfing, watching a clip, reading something . . . .

Start Firefox using Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Mostly, I was jumping around google maps. It would also crash when I zoomed on weather maps. I think it may have been crashing on other things before I wiped my old firefox. I had many divergent tabs up... not sure how many, 20 or more for sure.

Crashing now at the drop of a hat.

Are you crashing only when you have Google tab open or does it crash without Google?

Another Mac user is having the same type of crashes; https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1356221

Fred Weather channel radar crashes it every time. Also PlayWSOP poker site crash every time. I have used this browser on those sites for many many years, never a problem. Very strange

more options

For now, can you use a different browser on those sites?

Of course, but I'm hoping its temporary. I have all my bookmarks etc. on firefox

Firefox started crashing at the drop of at hat. Anything I did and sometimes nothing.

I overwrote my HD with a clone I happened to make just before the Catalina update. Everything is working fine now. Before I did this Firefox was crashing constantly no matter what I did. I will not update until this is resolved.

I checked and Apple sent a software update on 10/27. It was not a full blown new version update to a new level, just a quick security update. I've run many of those in the past without a problem, but I'm pretty sure the date of the update correlates with the beginning of the crashes. I sure hope this is just a temporary thing.
