Hi. I am a graphic designer and Web master. I use your browser since I think it's the best. I did a format of my pc and I forgot the password of my account. So I did forgot password. Thinking all my password would of sync and follow me. But it didn't. I had over 1000 password from site that I have recently work on and some still working on it. Which were most of them auto generate. Which I wouldn't have a clue of any of them. PLEASE Is there a way for me to regret my passwords? Only the password. Please thanks!

Hi

Thank you for your question about the Firefox Sync service.

It appears from your question, that you are using Firefox Sync as a back up service. This is not what Sync is designed to do. The Firefox Sync service takes a copy of the data you wish to include and transfers it to a second device (typically a mobile device such as a tablet or a telephone) running a copy of Firefox. The storage in between all attached devices is both temporary and fragile and is not stable enough to be (and is not designed as) a reliable backup service.

To protect information being synced between devices, if you use the "forgot password" tool, data being synced is deleted.

If you have a copy of your Firefox profile for desktop Firefox, you may be able to recover your bookmarks and other data. Please have a read of this article.

If you have a copy of your data on a mobile version of Firefox, please follow these instructions to connect it to Firefox Sync to copy your data.

Hi thanks for the reply, i do have a copy but it seems like a blank firefox, no bookmarks saved or anything. is there something else i can try to do for me to be able to recover any of the passwords ?

If you would have to reset the password for the Mozilla account because you do not remember this password, then that will remove all data stored on the Sync server because this password is used to encrypt your data locally for security reasons before it is uploaded to the Sync server (only encrypted data leaves your computer) and only this password or a possible recovery key can decrypt this data.

When you say "... and only this password or a possible recovery key can decrypt this data." you mean the password before i reset the password? is there anyway for me to try to find the before before i reset it?

Once you reset the password, then all data is lost. A recovery key needs to be created beforehand.
