What extensions do you have installed? It looks to me that some sort of "social bookmarks" extension has modified that Edit This Bookmark window, based upon the presence of that "Rating" line at the bottom.

How are you saving a new bookmark?

There 5 ways to save a new Bookmark in Firefox, the first 4 should offer to save the new bookmark in a folder: 1. 2. Right-click and select Bookmark this Page. 3. Bookmarks > Bookmark this Page 4. Double-click the Star that is on the right side of the Location bar. 4a. (A single-click on the Star will save the new Bookmark to the Unsorted Bookmarks folder, without opening the Edit this Bookmark dialog.) 5. Drag the website image in the URL bar into the Sidebar view of Bookmarks or to the Bookmarks menu bar item and then into the drop-down or onto the Bookmarks Toolbar

I understand the different methods of creating a bookmark. The problem is the window that should appear to allow me to tag it or put in a different category is not showing up. I've taken a screen shot of the window I'm referring to on another workstaion running the same version of firefox.

good call - an add-on was causing this issue. Updated add-on and all is good. will have to watch updates for add-ons a little closer in the future.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE FIREFOX and HATE IE. EXCEPT FOR - the BOOKMARKS! All I want to do is put pages I have bookmarked, but haven't put in files, easy to organize into the files that I do have. I want to alphabetize them so they are all alphabetical in my bookmarks drop-down box (file folders and unsorted ones). I have tried add-ons, I've read everything I can find here and through searches... and still cannot find help. I never had this problem in IE. I guess it is selecting the browser with the most good things - which FF has.

BTW, I can go into "organize bookmarks" and alphabetize in A - Z order and they line up perfectly, but when I open the drop-down box for bookmarks they are still just the way they were - UN-ALPHABETIZED. How do I save it to stay the way it is in "organize bookmarks" in my "bookmarks" drop-down box?

The Views menu in the Bookmarks Manager (Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks) is for displaying the bookmarks in different sorting orders (hence the name Views) and doesn't sort bookmarks permanently.

None of these steps work in version 13.
