After being VERY happy with Firefox for some years, [and like the interface]. I upgraded Firefox to 3.6.3 and since then it crashes [several times a day!] on random web sites [not always crashing for any given crash site] with no indication of why, and inconsistent whether it can reload the offending site. I am therefore reluctantly looking for an alternative. I can see no pattern [except it seems more frequent when loading a separate window with no menu bar. Sometimes the page loads then another time THE SAME page will crash. I get no crash report message and when I restart Firefox I get the message "oops this is embarrassing...." Sometimes if I ask to reload the tabs it then works, other times not. I am running XP Home with all updates and have tried all the suggestions in the knowledge base and support forums.

Some of the offending pages are trying to get the login page from my internet bank -crashes about 50% of the time, trying to download a file for an ebay sale, crashes about 30% of the time. This same problem was reported by someone else in May 2010 but has been closed. I could not find why, as the only response seems to be that someone else is having a similar problem

Hey, I had this problem for a while (since reformatting and a fresh install of windows XP, which I thought was weird) and I couldn't figure out the issue, then it happened while I had my task manager opened and I noticed a process running and stop right at the time of the crash. Sysfader.exe. Here is my solution and I have not experienced a crash since:

right click on your desktop and go to Properties, then the Appearance tab. Click the button for Effects, and uncheck the box that says "Use the following transition effect for menus and tooltips."
