My computer ceased asking for my password to open Windows Home. My usual computer people fixed that. A few days later, when I downloaded some updates for my CanoScan, the EXE files were all 0_KB. I went online and tried other EXEs with the same result. I tried one where I changed the extension to BIN, and that gave an acceptable size, BUT, when I changed the extension back from BIN to EXE, it gave an Error window. I tried Explorer 8, with the same results.

Hey guys,

(1.Make sure you have Winrar (I did not check other archives)

( 2. You need to see extensions files type (Click Control Panel, click Folder Options, click the View Tab, then unchecked the Hide extension for known files types) then click apply then ok

I cant make the download normal :( but I can make it work :)

When you try downloading a .exe right click the link and click Save link as at the end of the file name type .rar instead of .exe

Example "Download.rar".

When Download has finished, go to the file you download and change back to .exe instead of .rar

Example "Download.exe"

Now right click the file and click "Add to Archive" and click ok. (it takes a little time)

Now double click the Archive (rar file) you just created, You will see your download in there

Then you double-click on your download file (in rar) don't extracted also it takes a little time

Hope this works guyz Happy New Year :)

To the many others who had the same problem: re Hey_fixya' solution to my problem of not being able to download .EXE files. If you receive an answer by email, as I did, you will find that it is slightly different from Hey_fixya's solution on the web page. I have yet to try both. Happy New Year, 29ahc
