After I download a file the virus scanner does not auto shut off I have to manually stop it. Problem started yesterday before this everything worked fine, I'm running Win7 Professional and use AVG antivirus free version 2011.
After downloading a file yesterday the virus scanner would not stop it ran for over 2 hrs before i decided to stop it. again today after a small file was downloaded it happened and i had to manually stop it.

You say that just started happening yesterday?
Does that coincide with installing AVG Free 2011?
No, i've been using AVG for quite some time now... it just started happening when i changed from wireless to an ethernet cable... not sure what the problem is but seems to have fixed itself now at any rate...
