I have made app tabs for facebook and inbox (one of my email sights). They do not stay. They may be there when I open and close firefox 3 or 4 time then the next time they are gone and I have to reset them. They are set to the login page as I chose not to remember the password. I have been using FF4 for about 4 days and this has happened at least 5 times.

Are you clearing your recent history either manually or when you close Firefox?

Firefox stores App Tabs and tab group details in the same file that stores details of browsing sessions. Make sure that you have not set Firefox to delete browsing history. For details of the setting to check see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Clear+Recent+History

No I am not clearing my recent history either manually or when I close Firefox. My settings for that are "remember history". Yesterday I did not have the issue. This morn when I started the laptop and started up firefox they were gone. It seem to be some what erratic.

This can be a problem with the file sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Profile Folder

Delete sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Profile Folder

If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.

See:

You will have to redo the App tabs and Tab Groups after deleting sessionstore.js.

I did the deletion as explained above. Now Facebook pinned app seems to stay. However, my inbox.com login is still there (without the inbox icon) and when I click it I get 2 screens. 1st one (m_em - undefined) 2nd one ( fatal applacition error. frame does not exist. Stop dialog popups on this page === with a check box) However my inbox bookmark on the bookmark tool bar it goes right to the inbox, com login every time with no problem.

"what happened:TypeError: Components.classes['@mozilla.org/extensions/manager;1'] is undefined"

X3STeNLiTE, that error message indicates that you are using an add-on that is not compatible with Firefox 4. For details of how to troubleshoot this to find out what one is causing the problem see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes

Found a solution. If you guys want permanent pinned sites you use often, right click next to an open tab; not on the tab, and make sure "Bookmarks toolbar" is checked. Now drag whichever site you use often to the new area that just popped open and these sites become permanently pinned. Not quite the solution to pinning as app tab, but it works. Hope this helps.

This seems to work for me. I have restarted Firefox a couple of times, A OK. I did not have to reset the extension Speed Dial groups of tabs.
