When I click on a hyperlinked e-mail address in any website, firefox opens new blank windows rapidly without stopping. The only way to stop firefox when this happens is to turn off the computer. How can I fix this problem?

Check the Mailto application in Firefox > Preferences > Applications

Make sure that it isn't set to the Firefox application.
