  • With Firefox closed, open the \extensions\ folder in your Profile folder, then locate this folder and open it.

  • Then you need to open the \lib\ folder to see the toolbar.js file. Open that file in a simple text editor program.
  • Save the edited file. Then start Firefox.

Google changed the login domain for their accounts, which broke the Google Toolbar. They're gonna need to fix the Google Toolbar extension, which probably won't happen because in July they announced they aren't going to support Firefox 5.0 and newer versions. But you can fix it yourself if you're a little familiar with programming.

With Firefox closed, open up toolbar.js in the Google Toolbar extension with a decent text editor.

Find: www.google.com/accounts

and replace ALL with: accounts.google.com

Start Firefox.

Login through the toolbar. Enjoy.

OUTSTANDING I have been to dozens of pages with people whining about this problem over the last 2 months and not one with even an attempt at a solution and then I found yours.

As a computer professional, it is very easy to see why the change affected all of us, yet I wonder why Google never emailed us (except that they want us to use Chrome... sigh).

The fact that you found this one file (very isolated) and realized that the domain had changed is nothing short of genius and I thank you since Google seems to have no problem not supporting the toolbar for FireFox anymore, but I want to keep using it and we will all be relying on people like you to help us!

Thanks again for your outstanding intestinal fortitude and stick-to-it-iveness. I am so happy I do NOT have to use the bookmark gadget on my igoogle page anymore.

AWESOME!

Thanks!

Peace!

Eric
