Try this, in the URL bar type: about:config

Filter: browser.urlbar.trimurls and browser.urlbar.formatting.enabled set the values to false for both.

Thank you soooo much! you are a life saver! I'm working a lot with images and there are some data included in the path that I need without having to click on the link and go there. Of course that data was in the /.../ part. But I followed your instructions and now it works, thank you so much again!

I guess I did something wrong..it worked at first but I had to restart Firefox and then the statusbar is back to the chopped version. Did the about:config again and both values are set to false. So why doesn't it work?
