anytime I click on a search result to go to a website it first directs me to another site, either a shopping site or an inappropriate adult site

This happens every time. I put a subject in the search bar and then when I click on one of the results I am not directed to the correct website. Instead I am directed either to a shopping website, an adult website or another search website where I am given other options similar to what I am looking forward.

I have to click the "go back" button 2 or 3 times to finally get back to the website I had originally clicked on.

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs.
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

I have this problem too. I google search and get the website list. Click on apprlopriate website and get directed to another. HOWEVER the other site is not inappropriate, they seem to be related to my subject. This does not happen in Internet Explorer and BT have told me it is a Firefox problem. How can I put this right please. I want to stay with Firefox but will have to change to IE if it continues. I have McAfee virus protection and a complete scan has not resolved the issue and my computer is clear of virus and malware.
