I was informed to adjust screen resolution to 1024 x 600 pixels by R clicking on Windows Desktop, then choose Properties in Display Properties dialog box and clicking Settings tab. I tried clicking various places on desktop to no avail. Please advise.

Windows 7 display properties work a bit differently from XP (you seem to have gotten Windows XP instructions).

  • In Windows 7, right-clicking the Windows Desktop should let you change the Theme and Screen Resolution.
  • An alternative and to change other settings click on the Windows Start menu, and then type Display in the search box.
  • You can also click Personalize after right-clicking the Windows Desktop, and in the bottom left corner click Display.

If you have an LCD display then you should always use the native resolution of that screen to avoid degradation. With an older CRT monitor you can change the resolution if you really want to do that. There are other ways to change that appearance by adjusting the DPI (dots per inch) used to display content. Firefox also has a String pref layout.css.devPixelsPerPx that allows to adjust the size of all elements in 0.1 or 0.05 steps.
