I've had this problem twice in the last week. First was on Yahoo mail display. While looking at mail, suddenly I saw displayed at the mouse pointer location an icon with 4 arrows. I know this is to resize the screen by dragging. I attempted to click off it but it still resized, making screen display smaller to the point that I couldn't read anything. I could not get the icon to return after trying for several days I dumped firefox and reinstalled. Everything worked fine. After using reinstalled firefox, working great. It did it again. Once again, cannot get teh icon back to resize screen to normal level.

It's only on firefox on this computer. Access from another computer and displays are fine. Internet Explorer displays correctly on this computer.

Press ctrl and 0 to reset to normal screen size.

You may have pushed down on the scroll wheel; See Bring Your Middle Mouse Button to Life for more information.

I'll try this but one thing. This is primarily happening on a laptop - no scroll wheel, just the touch pad.

Also, I mistake on calling it resizing. It's the "move" feature that is messing up.

I will try your suggestion.

Thanks

An icon with 4 four pointers would normally be move/drag icon and not a resize icon.

The icon that you describe is more likely the auto scroll icon that you get with a middle click.

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > General: Browsing: "Use autoscrolling"

Reset the page zoom on pages that cause problems.

  • View > Zoom > Reset (Ctrl+0 (zero); Cmd+0 on Mac)

Actually the icon I'm talking about is the move/drag icon. It pops on once in a blue moon and before you can click away from it, your screen display changed by moving the display panes borders. Problem is can't get the move/drag icon to come back to fix the panels back to how I want them.

It's not a zoom issue. It's the move/drag panel issue especially with site like Yahoo mail that has 3 or 4 panels. One gets moved and it changes all the others
