Adobe Flash Player has blocked me from using FF. A box shows up and the upper screen is grayed out

When I start FF, a small box comes up in the upper middle of the screen - it is from Flash Player and it has two selections: allow and deny. With this flash player box, the upper third of the screen is grayed out. It will not allow use of most visited, bookmarks, or anything that is to be initiated at the top of the page. Even if I start a program, I cannot use the upper controls for that program. This is the second day that it has been blocking my use of FF. Note: I also use Seamonkey, but it has not been affected by the flash player problem. I have re-installed flash player, re-booted, restarted FF, and no changes have come about. I am still blocked from using FF. In fact, I am using this support page on Seamonkey.

hello, can you try to bring up firefox in safemode (by pressing the shift key while it is launching) and choose to reset it in the upcoming dialog box?

Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings

Starting in safe mode did not get rid of the flash player problem. It is still there and the upper part of the screen is grayed out.

did you perform the reset?

There was no reset. It simply opens and says it is opening in safe mode, but it comes up with the stupid little "Adobe Flash Player Settings" box. there is nothing that says anything about "reset".

this sounds really strange, could you attach a screenshot of the issue?

another thing you can try to troubleshoot the issue is a clean reinstall: remove firefox from the windows control panel & chose to remove all personal data in the uninstaller. afterwards manually check if the firefox program folder got deleted (it's usually in C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox) and else remove it manually. then download & install a fresh copy at getfirefox.com

if this doesn't work either please do a full scan of your system with the security software already in place and different tools like the free version of malwarebytes, adwcleaner, microsoft safety scanner & kaspersky security scan.

I tried using my "snipping tool, but when it gets active, the box and gray area disappear. As soon as I minimize the snipping tool, the box and gray area come back.
