Firefox 18.0.2 (MacOSX) won't work with Amazon.com - freezes on attempt to login, checkout, edit cart.
Cookies enabled. Scripts allowed. Can browse and add items to cart, but attempt to checkout, login to account, edit cart, or connect to Amazon help freeze site.
Why do I need to have five browsers on my system just to find one that will work with each site I visit?

Please update to Firefox 19 Update Firefox to the latest release
Then, Reset Firefox Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings
Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
- Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
- Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
If clearing cookies doesn't work then it is possible that the cookies.sqlite file that stores the cookies is corrupted.
Rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete other present cookie files like cookies.sqlite-journal in the Firefox Profile Folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
- Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.
